As ALL ACCESS hinted YESTERDAY (NET NEWS 2/12), TED JORDAN, the longest-tenured GM of CBS News Talk WBZ-A and Oldies WODS/BOSTON, said it’s been a "great ride" but it’s time to retire after 34 years. In a BOSTON HERALD report, JORDAN said, "It has been a wonderful run. It’s just time. I feel that every day I stay here, there’s another great opportunity that I’m letting go by."
JORDAN, 56, said he’d been talking with his wife about retiring for a long time and got "horribly" sick with whooping cough last fall.
JORDAN wanted to leave last DECEMBER, but agreed to stay until the end of this month at CBS’ request. He oversaw the recent round of staff cuts and said he was "lucky enough" to be able to bring back ’BZ host STEVE LEVEILLE.
Market Manager MARK HANNON will take on JORDAN’s WBZ GM. "My goal is to be the steward of a great radio station that I’ve inherited from TED and just continue on a tremendous tradition," HANNON said.
Classic Rock WZLX GM BARBARA JEAN SCANNELL takes over at WODS.
