DISCUSSION RADIO, INC. has been fined $1,200 by the FCC for late license renewal application, unauthorized operation, and public file violations at Talk WDIS-A/NORFOLK, MA. The fine was reduced from $16,500 due to inability to pay despite what the Commission termed "particularly egregious" violations.
In another late license renewal application case, MID-COAST RADIO PROJECT, INC. received a renewal but also a notice of apparent liability for forfeiture of $3,000 for a late application for the renewal of noncommercial KKFI/KANSAS CITY.
The Commission reversed its decision to dismiss three applications for new AMs in ANCHORAGE, AK by CHRISTIAN BROADCASTING, INC. The confusion arose from the applicant checking a box on the application indicating that it was applying for a noncommercial station, when it intended only to claim nonprofit status. The reversal allows CBI to amend and resubmit the applications under AM Auction No. 84.
And MONEY MATTERS RADIO loses its appeal of an FCC decision denying it authorization to rebroadcast its Business-Talk WESO-A/SOUTHBRIDGE, MA on a new FM translator. The Commission said that the translator was not yet authorized, and only authorized translators can get waivers to allow for rebroadcast of an AM station.
