TICKETMASTER ENTERTAINMENT INC. will offer as many as 2,000 BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN tickets as part of a settlement with NEW JERSEY for the company's handling of the BOSS' MAY concert appearances, reports BOSTON.COM. A random ticket drawing will be held for 1,000 fans who filed complaints after being unable to buy at posted prices for shows to be held MAY 21st and MAY 23rd at the IZOD CENTER in NEW JERSEY, the state attorney general's office said. Each person can buy two tickets.
Springsteen joined lawmakers and state regulators in criticizing TICKETMASTER this month after fans trying to buy tickets online were steered to a company-owned resale website, TICKETSNOW, where prices were substantially above face value. The pact restricts how TICKETMASTER operates the site, which competes with EBAY INC.'s STUBHUB.
"Everyone deserves an equal chance to buy tickets on a primary ticket-selling website and shouldn't be steered to a reselling website where the prices can be substantially higher," NEW JERSEY Attorney General ANNE MILGRAM said.
