On the heels of CBS Rocker WXRK (92.3 K-ROCK)/NEW YORK shifting to Top 40 (NET NEWS 3/11), former afternooner NIK CARTER and middayer MATT SCHWENKER TODAY (3/12) appeared on crosstown EMMIS AAA WRXP (101.9 RXP) to take calls, say goodbye to fans and officially decree that Rock is Alive in NEW YORK CITY as they "pass the torch" to 101.9 RXP.

The conversation with MATT PINFIELD IN THE MORNING turned into an invite for CARTER to guest-host the open afternoon-drive shift vacated by BRYAN SHOCK in JANUARY.

"NIK is a radio veteran and he deserves a chance to speak to his audience one more time," said 101.9 RXP PD/morning show co-host LESLIE FRAM. "In a way, we’re giving him a great opportunity to put together a good aircheck!" added FRAM laughing.
