Compassion International, Christian Radio Raise $3.1 Million

COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL and nearly 1,000 Christian radio stations partnered to raise funds and awareness for the GLOBAL FOOD CRISIS AWARENES DAY last WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11th. Stations from CALIFORNIA to NEW YORK participated and 27,000 listeners responded by giving $3.1 million. Event planners had set a goal of $1 million.
“The way in which these Christian radio stations and their supporters have answered the call to care for the poor is overwhelming. They have demonstrated the true meaning of the word ‘compassion,’” said COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL Pres./CEO WESS STAFFORD.
“All of us at STAR 99.1 are exhilarated at the results of the GLOBAL FOOD CRISIS campaign. This proves if we pray hard and work hard, we can make a difference,” said WAWZ/NEW YORK PD/Mornings JOHNNY STONE.
