GENE MCFADDEN, who, combined with his singing and writing partner JOHN WHITEHEAD, wrote and performed “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now,” died of liver and lung cancer. It was just two years ago that JOHN WHITEHEAD was murdered in front of his home while working on his car. The duo was responsible for several hits on the legendary PHILDELPHIA-INTERNATIONAL RECORD label, including “Backstabbers” for THE O’JAYS, and HAROLD MELVIN & THE BLUE NOTES' huge 70’s hit “Wake Up Everybody.” McFADDEN was 55.
