CLEAR CHANNEL has settled an age discrimination suit by a rejected applicant for a producer's position at Sports WDFN-A/DETROIT.
The DETROIT NEWS reports that the company settled with WILLIAM PLEGUE II, a 20-year veteran producer and 48 year old applicant for the producer's job with the station's morning show, after passing him over for a 24 year old with significantly less experience. PLEGUE claimed in a complaint with the MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL RIGHTS that PD RONA DANZIGER asked him if his age would be a problem in working with younger hosts; after the state declined to tke action, PLEGUE sued.
In the suit, it was noted that the position paid no more than $22,000., regardless of experience.
