Outgoing RADIO-TELEVISION NEWS DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION Pres. BARBARA COCHRAN was presented with two awards for her service to the organization and the industry at RTNDA@NAB in LAS VEGAS.
NAB Pres./CEO DAVID K. REHR presented COCHRAN with an NAB Recognition at a joint session TUESDAY morning, saying, "From her tireless efforts to push for reporter shield laws and cameras and microphones in the courts, to protecting journalists' access in post-9/11 AMERICA, to her commitment to promoting diversity in the newsroom, BARBARA COCHRAN has been an inspiration to many of us in the radio and television business. BARBARA has shown time and time again her dedication to advocating for the causes important to RTNDA's members."
COCHRAN also received the RTNDA's own JOHN F. HOGAN Award for Distinguished Service. COCHRAN has served at the helm of RTNDA and RTNDF for 12 years. "BARBARA has been a tireless advocate on behalf of all electronic journalists. Her passion for our craft, her dedication to excellence and her commitment to our organization are unparalleled. We are a better and stronger organization because of Barbara's leadership these past 12 years, said RTNDA Chairman ED ESPOSITO.
RTNDA Staff Gets Award, Too
The Board of Directors of the RTNDA also presented the ROB DOWNEY Citation to staff members of RTNDA and RTNDF at the organization's annual business meeting at LAS VEGAS for exceptional service to the board, with ESPOSITO saying that the award recognized their commitment, dedication and outstanding service to RTNDA members. Among the staff members honored with the citation, named for the RTNDA's first Executive Secretary, were JANE NASSIRI, KATHLEEN GRAHAM, MARNY KLUMP, CAROL KNOPES, TARA SHEEHAN, STACEY STANIAK and AUDREY LAMB.
