SARKES TARZIAN AC WAJI/FORT WAYNE, IN morning show co-host JEANNETTE RINARD was presented with a warrant for her arrest recently ... for buying too much CLARITIN decongestant. At issue is an INDIANA state law that limits how much ephedrine (an ingredient in decongestants) can buy at one time, because the ingredient is also used to manufacture crystal meth.
INDIANA law limits consumers from buying more people can't buy more than 3 grams of ephedrine or pseudoephedrine at one time or within a seven-day period. So, a person could only legally buy two boxes of CLARITON within seven days. RINARD, who suffers from allergies, knew about the limit, but not the time period.
After the retailer reported the purchases of CLARITIN, a STEUBEN COUNTY police officer showed up at her house with an arrest warrant. The officer found out about her allergies, so instated of arresting her on the spot, told her to go to the prosecutor's office the next day to get the charges cleared up.
RINARD brought proof from her doctor that she does have allergies to the prosecutor's office and the charges are being dropped..
