The FCC is suing CBS RADIO (as predecessor/licensee INFINITY BROADCASTING CO.) for payment of a $10,000 fine against its Country WQYK-F/TAMPA for RF radiation violations, reports the TAMPA BAY BUSINESS JOURNAL. The suit was filed WEDNESDAY in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of FLORIDA.
The fine was levied against the station's then-licensee INFINITY after 2004 and 2005 inspections at its PARK TOWER transmitter, where measurements were found to exceed RF radiation limits without proper warning signs. Most of the radiation was emanating from a co-located LPTV, but WQYK contributed 5% of the radiation and had not posted proper warning signs. An application for review of the ruling was dismissed by the Commission in APRIL.
