ARBITRON is making significant progress toward its goal of achieving MEDIA RATING COUNCIL (MRC) accreditation of the PORTABLE PEOPLE METER (PPM). The audit, conducted by ERNST & YOUNG (E&Y) from the HOUSTON PPM testing, is a detailed review of the ratings service that is essential towards obtaining MRC accreditation. ARBITRON began preliminary audit discussions two years ago. The second phase of the audit was completed the week of JANUARY 30 and is currently being reviewed by the MRC staff and committees.
ARBITRON President, Operations, Technology, Research and Development OWEN CHARLEBOIS said, "ARBITRON believes strongly in the value of the MRC and we look forward to working with them to ensure that the proposed PPM service in HOUSTON meets all requirements for accreditation. "While we can’t comment on a final outcome nor an end date for MRC accreditation of the PORTABLE PEOPLE METER, we are proud of the work we have completed in order to deliver this report to the MRC. The entire process so far, which began with pre-audit meetings in FEBRUARY 2004, has represented a million dollar plus investment by ARBITRON in the quality of the PPM service."
