COMMUNITY RADIO OF NORTHERN COLORADO noncommercial KUNC/GREELEY, CO is having problems with its signal, and VILLAGE VOICE MEDIA Alternative weekly paper WESTWORD reports that the problems stem from someone interfering with the station's studio-transmitter link.
GM NEIL BEST provided WESTWORD with a letter he is sending listeners explaining that the STL between KUNC's studio and the station's primary antenna site on BUCKHORN MOUNTAIN has been experiencing interference, saying, "There is an unauthorized, local signal that has been sending out brief, spurious signals, starting on FRIDAY, resulting in the clicks and dropouts you are hearing. We are continuing to search for the source of the problem. In the interim we will switch our delivery service to satellite this afternoon. I apologize for the poor service you have been receiving and for our inability to make a more immediate correction."
KUNC recently signed on a translator, K219LF, serving DENVER at 91.7 FM. The translator is relaying the broadcast signal of KUNC and has been airing the same interference-ridden programming.
