Talk 2GB/SYDNEY host ALAN JONES has been tapped to host the state memorial service for AUSTRALIA's media mogul KERRY PACKER.
PACKER's family chose JONES to preside over the celebrity-packed event at the SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE on FRIDAY. TOM CRUISE and KATIE HOLMES, RUSSELL CROWE, Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD and former PM BOB HAWKE, VIACOM Vice Chairman SHARI REDSTONE, and YAHOO!'s TERRY SEMEL are all expected to attend the service, which will be televised live on AUSTRALIA.
PACKER, whose empire encompassed publishig, television, casinos, and real estate, died on DECEMBER 26 at 68.
