The UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN has banned beer advertising from radio broadcasts of its athletic events. Deals with ANHEUSER BUSCH-INBEV and MILLERCOORS have not been renewed, costing the school about $425,000 per year.
The move, intended to support the school's position against alcohol abuse, is the latest such action by universities in cutting their connection to alcohol companies as the issue of binge drinking on campus becomes more prominent.
