CBS RADIO Classic Hits KFRC/SAN FRANCISCO has announced that WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1st will serve as the date of the groundbreaking ceremonies for the new "DR. DON ROSE GARDEN" at CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL & RESEARCH CENTER OAKLAND, a memorial to the late, great morning man DR. DON ROSE, who ruled the KFRC airwaves from 1973-1986. DR. DON passed away MARCH 30, 2005. The rose garden will be located in the backyard of the hospital’s Family House, which provides low-cost housing with 16 bedrooms and a common living room, play room, kitchen and laundry facilities.
KFRC will follow the groundbreaking ceremonies with its 3rd Annual "Radiothon For Kids," which will occur MARCH 2-4. Each year the station dedicates three full days to reaching out across the BAY AREA and sharing stories of the kids and families whose lives are forever changed by the quality care they receive at CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL OAKLAND. Along the way, corporate and individual donations are solicited on the air and on the street, giving BAY AREA residents the opportunity to take part in something very special. The past two years KFRC with the help of listeners throughout the BAY AREA have raised more then $600,000.
