CRS-37 surely is in full swing in downtown NASHVILLE. Yesterday (2/15) was the seminar's first day of a full panel schedule. Several of the highlights included; the HUMANITARIAN AWARDS PRESENTATION to 903 MUSIC's NEIL McCOY, followed by a very engaging and comical Keynote presentation by GENERAL TOMMY FRANKS. Additional morning panels included the LEGAL ISSUES: HOW DO RADIO AND RECORDS CO-EXIST, which was an in depth discussion about the current FCC invitations and insight to the recent settlements with SONY/BMG and WARNER BROS.
THURSDAY's lunch sponsored by SONY MUSIC NASHVILLE included astounding performances from VAN ZANT, MIRANDA LAMBERT and ASHLEY MONROE. Later in the afternoon, KZLA's RJ CURTIS moderated the ever popular LABEL HEADS PANEL featuring, UMG/NASHVILLE's LUKE LEWIS, SONY NASHVILLE's JOHN GRADY, BIG MACHINE's SCOTT BORCHETTA, RLG's JOE GALANTE, CAPITOL's MIKE DUNGAN and WARNER BROS. BILL BENNETT. While the overall tone of the panel was positive about the current state of Country music, all six label heads challenged radio to take more chances on new artists and to play more currents.
THURSDAY's panel line up wrapped up with another successful WCRS LIVE guitar pull featuring hit songwriters and artists BOB DIPIERO, CRAIG MORGAN, JON RANDALL, MIRANDA LAMBERT and TIM NICHOLS. Following a full day of panels, attendees where treated to some of the best music NASHVILLE had to offer with a full slate of after hours parties.
FRIDAY (2/17) morning's highlights included the annual MANAGER's BREAKFAST followed by the EDISON MEDIA RESEARCH PANEL. Country legend KENNY ROGERS also sat down for a spectacular interview with WSIX/NASHVILLE morning personality GERRY HOUSE during the LIFE OF A LEGEND PANEL. Lunch on FRIDAY was sponsored by CAPITOL NASHVILLE and included electrifying performances from DIERKS BENTLEY and newcomer ERIC CHURCH.
In looking ahead, tonight's NEW FACES SHOW will feature performances from JASON ALDEAN, HOT APPLE PIE, JEFF BATES, KEITH ANDERSON and LITTLE BIG TOWN. Check back with ALL ACCESS on MONDAY for a complete and in depth wrap up of the entire week's festivities.
