Former BOSTON sportscaster BOB GAMERE has changed his plea and pleaded guilty to two counts of transporting and one count of possessing child pornography. The plea is part of a deal that could send him to prison for the mandatory minimum of five years.
GAMERE, best known in the BOSTON area as host of "CANDLEPINS FOR CASH" on the old WNAC-TV and as sports anchor at WLVI-TV, hosted shows on WMRE-A (now WWZN-A) and WRCA-A, and called HARVARD football on WMRE-A, WDLW-A (now WRCA-A) and WTAG-A/WORCESTER; he called NEW YORK YANKEES games on WPIX (TV)/NEW YORK in 1970.
He was charged after he sent an e-mail with child pornography to an undercover agent in 2007, prompting a raid in which more material was found.
