J SPORTS/WALLERSUTTON 2000 Sports WAMG-A-WLLH-A/BOSTON, the market's ESPN RADIO affiliate, is dropping the format TODAY (9/14) amid reports by the BOSTON GLOBE that crosstown ENTERCOM Sports WEEI-A is planning to move to one of ENTERCOM's FM frequencies while picking up ESPN RADIO for the AM side.
The GLOBE reports that its sources say WEEI is negotiating with ESPN to add the network's programming for nights and weekends, with the present WEEI lineup moving to either the frequency of Active Rock WAAF or Adult Hits WMKK (MIKE 93.7). That move, says the GLOBE, is coming "within months," and would leave the present 850 AM signal for the ESPN lineup and affiliation with the new ESPNBOSTON.COM website launching MONDAY.
