Graffiti Threatens KRKO

Target Of Attack

The latest threat leveled at towers at the site of S-R BROADCASTING Sports KRKO-A (NORTHSOUND 1380)/EVERETT, WA involves graffiti on a building in MALTBY, WA that warns the station, "If you continue to risk killing children, Mother Earth and her creations, all your holdings are targets." 

Police are looking into whether the message is from the EARTH LIBERATION FRONT, which remains suspected of being responsible for the destruction of two new towers at the site (NET NEWS 9/4); the message was signed "ELF." The graffiti also mentions the MASTER BUILDERS ASSOCIATION, also involved in a controversial project in SNOHOMISH COUNTY.

Late FRIDAY, the ASSOCIATED PRESS received an e-mail from TOMAS PETERSON, claiming to be a spokesperson for the ELF, who wrote that the graffiti is a "strong warning directed specifically to the SKOTDAL family (owners of KRKO) and the MASTER BUILDERS ASSOCIATION ... if these entities continue to threaten the health and welfare of the planet, it is very likely we will see future actions by the ELF."
