NEWSDAY reports that at least four bids have been received for noncommercial WLIU/SOUTHAMPTON, LONG ISLAND, and three of those were from religious broadcasters. The listeners' group making the fourth bid, PECONIC PUBLIC BROADCASTING, is awaiting incorporation, pending a meeting of the BOARD OF REGENTS of LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY, which must approve the new entity to allow it to cash its donation checks and move forward with the bid.
The radio station is being evicted from its STONY BROOK-SOUTHAMPTON campus studios on DECEMBER 3rd.
