ALL ACCESS has confirmed that CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WQEN (103-7 THE Q)/BIRMINGHAM PD TOMMY CHUCK has been tapped to become the PD at sister Top 40 WXXL (XL 106.7)/ORLANDO, beginning MARCH 20th. He replaces ADAM COOK who resigned (NET NEWS 1/12) following an arrest for allegedly trying to have sex with a minor.
CLEAR CHANNEL RVPP and ORLANDO Dir./Programming CHRIS KAMPMEIER told ALL ACCESS, "TOMMY’s enthusiasm and skill sets are an excellent match for XL's needs at this time. I'm confident that his appointment sets the stage for extending XL's enviable heritage position in ORLANDO and the industry for years to come."
CHUCK told ALL ACCESS, "It is very hard to leave the folks at CLEAR CHANNEL/BIRMINGHAM. We have accomplished tons in just over two years and I'm excited to watch WQEN continue its growth without me holding them back! As for ORLANDO, I'm very excited and honored to join the amazing team that's already in-place at WXXL. Plus, I hear MICKEY MOUSE lives in Orlando and that is cool."
Back in "THE MAGIC CITY," there are now two prime openings. One is the RVPP/ALABAMA-PENSACOLO, and CC/BIRMINGAM post created by DOUG HAMAND's exit to the OM slot at CC/TAMPA (NET NEWS 2/20), and now the PD post WQEN.
