An OKLAHOMA company's proposed 1,500-foot-tall broadcast tower -- the world's tallest self-supporting tower -- in CRYSTAL LAKE, IL has been canceled, reports the DAILY HERALD.
BMB COMMUNICATIONS MANAGEMENT proposed to build the tower serving the CHICAGO market on 3.6 acres of MCHENRY COUNTY COLLEGE's campus, for which it was to pay $6 million plus an additional $1 million if it sold all five broadcast slots on the tower within the first five years of the deal, but the HERALD reports that failure to obtain FAA approval has killed the plans.
