Veteran broadcaster, promoter, and columnist MIKE LYONS died this morning after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57.
LYONS was a TripleARadio.com contributing editor and columnist ("The Forest") from 2001-2009. Prior, he was a VP/Triple A Promotions for MILWAUKEE-based LEE ARNOLD MARKETING from 1995-2000. He began his career in his hometown of ORLANDO in 1971 by publishing the city's first underground newspaper and promoting the first rock show at the Citrus Bowl. In the '70s and '80s, he was on-air Music Director at WORJ, WDIZ and WHTQ/ORLANDO, Program Director for LEE ABRAMS SUPERSTAR' WXTB (98 Rock)/TAMPA, and spent the last eight years of his radio career as mornings/APD at WZTA (ZETA 4)/MIAMI.
