The BBC TRUST has ruled that the BBC failed to follow its own competition rules when deciding how much to pay for the radio rights for soccer's FA Cup, but fell short of ruling that the BBC had violated competition laws.
UTV national U.K. Sports station TALKSPORT had filed a complaint alleging that the BBC overpaid for the rights; the TRUST determined that the network had breached its guidelines on value-for-money but did not break the law.
The BBC won the rights for live match commentary through 2012.
