CBS RADIO Classic Rock KZOK/SEATTLE morning stallworth BOB RIVERS told THE SEATTLE POST INTELLIGENCER that he believes the theft and crash landing of his airplane last FALL was the work of COLTON HARRIS-MOORE. RIVERS' Cessna was stolen and crashed NOVEMBER 12th, 2008.
"The thief broke into a locked hangar, apparently found some keys in the hangar, stole the plane during our morning show," RIVERS said YESTERDAY morning (10/8) on the air. "All indications are that COLTON HARRIS-MOORE is the prime suspect," he said.
RIVERS told THE P-I he started taking lessons in 2002 to overcome his fear of flying -- then became an instrument-rated pilot and bought an airplane.
RIVERS said he's not told the story until now because he was little scared and embarrassed. Ultimately friends convinced him that he might help get the word out to catch the thief, and local media began inquiring about whether his plane had been involved.
“Last NOVEMBER when this happened, I thought to myself with the world economy collapsing, and people losing their homes, jobs, and life savings, the last thing I wanted to be doing was whining that some hooligan stole my airplane."
