THURSDAY marks the end of an era at CBS NEWS, as retiring "WORLD NEWS ROUNDUP" anchor CHRISTOPHER GLENN made his final broadcast, which featured a tribute by fellow CBS newsman CHARLES OSGOOD. GLENN was anchor of "THE WORLD TONIGHT" for 11 years before taking over "WORLD NEWS ROUNDUP" in APRIL 1999 and has also been anchoring other newscasts and "WHAT'S IN THE NEWS" for several years; he is known to generations of AMERICANS as the voice of CBS TV's "IN THE NEWS," the news segment for children that was a staple of the network's SATURDAY morning schedule for 1971 to 1986.
