KATZ MEDIA GROUP's FALL 2005 national format averages and share trends report shows gains for Classic Hits and Spanish formats, while Country (with four consecutive years of increases) retains the overall lead.
In the rock category, Classic Hits and Classic Rock are the only formats showing growth, with Classic Hits delivering a more balanced gender skew (55% male) than Classic Rock (70% male); AAA, Alternative, and AOR continue their declines. Spanish formats (including Hurban and Reggaeton) showed a 6% year-to-year increase, putting the category behind only Country for average market share. In Urban formats, Top 40-Rhythm declined slightly, as did Urban AC, but Urban Contemporary and Urban Inspirational showed increases. AC formats continue to show seasonal increases, most likely due to all-CHRISTMAS music formats in the FALL survey period.
