Radio Host Murdered In Mexico

A host at MEGA RADIO GROUP's XHVU (LA MAGIA 97.1)/MAZATLAN, SINILOA, MEXICO was found dead near MAZATLAN two days after being reported missing on FRIDAY (10/9). REPORTERS SANS FRONTIERES is reporting that FABIAN RAMIREZ LOPEZ was found with his throat cut and the letters YTTS carved into his back on SUNDAY (10/11) after an anonymous tip was called into the station.

The organization says that if RAMIREZ, who worked at the station for five years, was killed in relation to his work, he would be the tenth media worker murdered over their reporting in MEXICO in 2009. On SEPTEMBER 23rd, RADIO VISION website editor NORBERTO MIRANDA MADRID was murdered in CHIHUAHUA, becoming the 9th such victim of the year and the 55th journalist murdered in the country since 2000.
