Syndicated morning man TOM JOYNER has succeeded in having SOUTH CAROLINA posthumously pardon his two great uncles, who were executed in 1913 for the death of an elderly Confederate veteran, reports USA TODAY.
JOYNER discovered what had happened to the men, THOMAS and MEEKS GRIFFIN, while filming a documentary "African-American Lives 2," for PBS (NET NEWS 10/8). JOYNER was one of a dozen people who had their lineage traced for the documentary.
"Black people back in the day didn’t always talk about the struggles from which they came, they always looked forward," JOYNER said. "I hope this will bring closure and that the secrets of my family will be closed."
