RUSH LIMBAUGH's op-ed piece in the WALL STREET JOURNAL defending himself against racism allegations by Rev. AL SHARPTON and ESPN and the WASHINGTON POST's MICHAEL WILBON drew a threat of a defamation suit from SHARPTON.
LIMBAUGH's article noted SHARPTON's role in the infamous TAWANA BRAWLEY case (SHARPTON was found guilty of defamation of the officer falsely accused of rape by BRAWLEY) and added that SHARPTON "played a role" in two riots in NEW YORK; SHARPTON told the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS that he will "definitely going to prove he (LIMBAUGH) makes reckless, unaccountable statements. Which is why he was forced out of buying an NFL team in the first place."
SHARPTON, who did not take issue with LIMBAUGH's citation of the BRAWLEY case, added, "He doesn't have the right to lie and accuse people of crimes. He wants to criminalize me. That's what got him in trouble. He tried to criminalize the NFL players, calling them Crips and Bloods."
