The BOSTON HERALD's JESSICA HESLAM checked in with GREATER MEDIA Chairman/CEO PETER SMYTH to see if his company's Talk WTKK/BOSTON continues to be interested in taking afternoon host and HERALD columnist HOWIE CARR away from crosstown ENTERCOM Talk WRKO-A, and SMYTH said that he doesn't have plans to try to lure CARR away.
WTKK inked CARR to a five-year deal to do mornings on WTKK two years ago, but ENTERCOM went to court to enforce its right to keep CARR. CARR's current contract expires in 2012.
"I think HOWIE CARR is a terrifically talented guy. I like him but I’m not (going to)," SMYTH told HESLAM. "ENTERCOM and he have a good relationship now and you know, we tried. It didn’t work." On his present morning show, which has been cut back to two hours, SMYTH said, "I love DOM IMUS. DON IMUS has been with me a long time."
