Fire Knocks WPJY Off The Air

POSITIVE ALTERNATIVE RADIO, INC. Southern Gospel WPJY (JOY FM 88.7)/PARKERSBURG, WV was knocked off the air after a fire hit the office complex housing the station and other businesses on SATURDAY morning (10/17). According to the news story on the station's website, DUNHAM TOWNSHIP fire officials believed that the fire was electrical or furnace-related.

The station planned to broadcast directly from its transmitter in ATHENS COUNTY until the office was usable. Market Manager BRYAN FOWLER told the DAILY TRIBUNE that the station hoped to be back into the studios in 2 1/2 weeks. The station's annual SHAREATHON was planned for this week and will be conducted from studios in PORTSMOUTH, OH.
