SIMMONS Sports KSLG-A (TEAM 1380)/ST. LOUIS morning host TIM MCKERNAN tells the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH's DAN CAESAR that he is considering an offer to return to his former radio home, crosstown rival GRAND SLAM SPORTS Sports KFNS-A, while waiting for an offer from his present station. MCKERNAN and his co-hosts JIM HAYES and DOUG VAUGHN are presently working without a contract, and CAESAR speculates that the deal at KFNS would be for afternoons, which would present a problem for HAYES and VAUGHN because of their commitments to their other jobs on TV.
"I'm flattered that the new management team at KFNS is interested in bringing me on board," MCKERNAN told CAESAR.
"It's important, we consider it the best show on Sports radio," KSLG GM JOHN HELMKAMP said of getting MCKERNAN and crew signed to a deal to stay with the station. He added that he is "98% confident we'll get (the deal) done soon."
