They did it when the GIANTS and EAGLES faced off in the NFC playoffs last season, and CBS RADIO Sports WFAN-A/NEW YORK and WIP-A/PHILADELPHIA will do it again for the WORLD SERIES, meeting (roughly) halfway between the BRONX and SOUTH PHILLY for a simulcast of the stations' midday shows. WFAN's JOE BENIGNO and EVAN ROBERTS and WIP's GLEN MACNOW and ANTHONY GARGANO will broadcast live from the BORDENTOWN, NJ outpost of PHILADELPHIA sports bar chain CHICKIE'S AND PETE's on WEDNESDAY (10/28) 10a-1p ET, before Game 1 of the SERIES between the defending World Champion PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES and the AMERICAN LEAGUE pennant-winning NEW YORK YANKEES.
BENIGNO said, "Of course I’m upset the METS aren’t in this thing, but I can’t think of a sexier match-up than YANKS-PHILS. Two powerhouse teams, two powerhouse cities and two powerhouse radio stations to battle it out WEDNESDAY in BORDENTOWN. It’s going to be a tremendous day."
GARGANO added, "It worked out so well the last time we tried this debate since the EAGLES beat the GIANTS in the NFC Divisional Playoff game. We figured we'd just continue the beating with the PHILS over the YANKEES this time!"
