ALL ACCESS was the first to note that PREMIERE RADIO NETWORKS had pulled several shows from DAVIE COUNTY BROADCASTING Talk WDSL-A/MOCKSVILLE, NC due to exclusivity to be granted to another station in the adjacent GREENSBORO-WINSTON SALEM market (NET NEWS 10/21), with reports of a possible CLEAR CHANNEL FM Talk station coming to the TRIAD market. And earlier TODAY, ALL ACCESS reported that PREMIERE is also pulling RUSH LIMBAUGH's show not only from CURTIS MEDIA's Talk WSJS-A-WSML-A in the same GREENSBORO-WINSTON-SALEM-HIGH POINT market, but also from CURTIS' Talk WPTF-A/RALEIGH, both by the new year.
The other shoe in the TRIAD market dropped later TODAY, when CLEAR CHANNEL announced the flip of Spanish Adult Hits WGBT (LA PRECIOSA 94.5)/EDEN-GREENSBORO to Talk as "RUSH RADIO 94.5" on JANUARY 1st. The station, using the same slogan as CLEAR CHANNEL's successful NEW ORLEANS FM talker WRNO, will air LIMBAUGH as well as GLENN BECK with other additions to be announced.
"We are excited to bring BECK, RUSH and RUSH Radio to the entire TRIAD market," CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO/GREENSBORO VP/Market Manager KIM PYLE said.
"These are the biggest personalities in Talk radio and we wanted to give them the platform they deserve," added CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO/GREENSBORO Dir./Operations TIM SATTERFIELD.
The LA PRECIOSA format will remain available online and on an HD multicast channel in the market.
In Raleigh-Durham: WRDU Sets Talk Flip
And in RALEIGH-DURHAM, CLEAR CHANNEL plans to flip Country WRDU (106-1 RDU COUNTRY) to Talk at the end of the year, with LIMBAUGH, BECK, and SEAN HANNITY in the lineup, according to a report in TRIANGLE BUSINESS JOURNAL.
