The rumored changes at BORDER MEDIA PARTNERS' AUSTIN stations are hitting the market TODAY, with Regional Mexican KHHL (98.9 LA LEY) flipping to Talk and Spanish Contemporary simulcast KXXS (DIGITAL 92.5)/KXBT (DIGITAL 104.9) flipping to Sports as THE HORN 104.9 FM, ESPN AUSTIN, using ESPN RADIO in a deal with SIMMONS MEDIA, which owns crosstown ESPN affiliate KZNX-A (ESPN AUSTIN) and Spanish Sports KWNX-A (ESPN DEPORTES).
On the Sports stations, the FM side will concentrate on local sports, with KZNX airing the ESPN national feed. The FM will air the local BUD LIGHT MORNING RUSH with ERIN HOGAN and DAN NEIL in morning drive, THE BOTTOM LINE with SEAN ADAMS and CHIP BROWN middays, and THE DRIVE with GEOFF KETCHUM and CHAD HASTINGS in afternoons, and ESPN RADIO evenings, overnights and for COLIN COWHERD's 10a-1p show.
The Talk station, 98.9 -- THE BIG TALKER, will launch later TODAY. Former crosstown CLEAR CHANNEL Country KVET-F morning co-host SAMMY ALLRED is reportedly in the lineup, according to the AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, and former MERIDIAN Talk WINK-A-WNOG-A/FORT MYERS-NAPLES PD JEFF WOLF will serve as PD.
