UNIVERSAL MUSIC International Chief Lucian Grainge will succeed CEO DOUG MORRIS sometime next summer, reports BUSINESSWEEK.The reports says details "are still be worked out."
MORRIS has run UNIVERSAL MUSIC’s operations for the last 15 years, and signed a four-year contract extension last year. At that time, VIVENDI executives reportedly asked MORRIS to bring aboard a successor.
The report has MORRIS keeping the title of Chairman -- and continue to work on key projects for UNIVERSAL -- with GRAINGE handeling day-to-day operations.
MORRIS is currently involved in the launch next month of VEVO, an online service he masterminded for streaming music videos on YOUTUBE.
GRAINGE, the former Chairman/CEO of UNIVERSAL MUSIC U.K. and IRELAND, was promoted to his current position as Chairman/CEO of UNIVERSAL MUSIC INTERNATIONAL in MAY 2005.
