A top DEMOCRAT is pushing for a series of votes on indecency legislation that would expand enforcement of the rules to cable and satellite TV. An aide to Sen. JAY ROCKEFELLER (D-WV), co-sponsor of the legislation, told an NAB conference MONDAY that ROCKEFELLER wants an on-the-record vote on the bill this year, challenging SENATE COMMERCE COMMITTEE Chairman TED STEVENS (R-AK), who has slowed the process to let the industry work on informing consumers about blocking options.
A series of fines against TV stations for indecency is expected from the FCC shortly, followed by radio fines.
