Country songwriter JEFFREY STEELE is helping give back to the Middle TENNESSEE area by donating money from the ALEX LeVASSEUR MEMORIAL FUND toward a scholarship program and for local skatepark renovations. The fund is in memory of JEFFREY's late son ALEX, an avid skateboarder, who passed away in a terrible accident in 2007.
The fund is established in partnership with the SIXTH AVENUE SKATEPARK in NASHVILLE and seeks out students that need help with grades and/or behavioral issues. In return for their hard work, they are given a free unlimited skate membership, a custom designed ALEX LeVASSEUR skatedeck and free gear.
The students also receive a free week at SIXTH AVENUE SKATEPARK's summer skate camp. One outstanding student at the camp is chosen to attend TONY HAWK's "Stand Up For Skateparks" benefit event in either the HAMPTONS, NY or BEVERLY HILLS, CA.
The LeVASSEUR family is also offering a contest to help fund improvements or expansions to skateparks across the country. Click here for more info on how to submit your local skatepark. Contact CASEY LeVASSEUR at RememberAlex@gmail.com for more info.
JEFFREY will host two concert/fundraising events in 2010 to help benefit the fund, with the first one taking place at ROCKETOWN in NASHVILLE on MARCH 11, 2010. Additional info will be announced soon.
Fans can also catch JEFFREY at the WILDHORSE SALOON in NASHVILLE for a show on NEW YEAR'S EVE (12/31). Click here for more info.
