Alyssa Smith Receives CMA Close Up Award Of Merit

The COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION (CMA) has selected VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY graduate ALYSSA SMITH to receive the 2009 CMA CLOSE UP magazine's "Award Of Merit." The award honors students who demonstrate the most creativity, dedication and promise in covering the CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL on assignment from the CMA.

Candidates are chosen based on recommendations from department heads in Journalism or equivalent programs at colleges and universities in Middle TENNESSEE. All of the work from the final 14 reporters and photojournalists during the 2009 CMA FEST can be found at www.CMAfest.com.

SMITH was presented with the award during the backstage press conference coverage of the 2009 CMA AWARDS yesterday (11/11) at the SOMMET CENTER in NASHVILLE. She was also invited to cover the AWARDS for the magazine from the press room.
