ALL ACCESS sends condolences to the friends and family of former Country KASE/AUSTIN and Country KVET/AUSTIN owner ROY BUTLER, who passed away on NOVEMBER 7th from complications resulting from a fall. BUTLER, who was also a former Mayor of AUSTIN, was 83.
BUTLER bought KVET when there were only five radio stations in AUSTIN. He built KVET and its sister station KASE into a very successful radio group and sold KVET-KASE in 1999.
AUSTIN Mayor LEE LEFFINGWELL said: "I am saddened to hear of the passing of AUSTIN's first publicly-elected Mayor, ROY BUTLER. ROY was a good friend to me and my Dad and a good friend to AUSTIN. As a young man I met ROY BUTLER when my Dad served as a TRAVIS COUNTY DEPUTY SHERIFF. ROY was a champion for philanthropy and a hero for public safety. Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Mayor ROY BUTLER."
Services for BUTLER will be held in the auditorium of the LYNDON BAINES JOHNSON LIBRARY in AUSTIN on THURSDAY (11/19) at 2p.
