EMMIS Talk KLBJ-A/AUSTIN's morning "TODD AND DON SHOW," cancelled in JULY after a furor over DON PRYOR's sarcastic use of "wetback" to refer to illegal immigrants, is returning to the station DECEMBER 7th. PRYOR and TODD JEFFRIES had remained at the station in off-air capacities after the cancellation.
The AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN reports that the station released a joint statement with local Hispanic leaders saying that the show will be back "with a transformed perspective on community history, expectations and cultural sensitivity." "We felt like they have worked hard to do their homework, to become more involved in the community and to eliminate any blind spots they might have concerning the history and feelings of the community," said VP/Market Manager SCOTT GILLMORE, who will be putting the hosts and the rest of KLBJ's on-air staff, producers, and management through diversity training.
