ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH columnist SARAH BRYAN MILLER is reporting on her "CULTURE CLUB" blog that staffers at Classical KFUO/ST. LOUIS, in the process of being sold by LUTHERAN CHURCH-MISSOURI SYNOD to Christian station operator GATEWAY CREATIVE BROADCASTING, has been placed under a gag order by OMAHA politician/lawyer, board member and spokesman KERMIT BRASHEAR, with no staffers allowed to speak publicly about the sale or inform listeners how to file a protest of the sale with the FCC.
The $18 million sale of KFUO has been controversial, with claims that the church, through BRASHEAR, resisted plans to sell the station to either another Lutheran organization or a citizens group dedicated to saving the station's Classical format. The FCC does not reject station sales on grounds of format changes.
