The battle between CONNECTICUT's RED WOLF BROADCASTING and CITADEL has escalated with RED WOLF now filing a petition to deny the renewal of nine CITADEL stations.
The dispute arises from a previous conflict over RED WOLF's attempt to establish an FM translator in NEW LONDON and CITADEL's opposition to the application. The latest petition, filed by attorney ARTHUR BELENDIUK, claims that CITADEL tried to get an employee to commit perjury by filing a false statement about interference the translator would cause to CITADEL's WSKO-F/WAKEFIELD-PEACEDALE, RI and had employees get family members and others to file interference claims; the petition also adds charges of payola to station employees and tower lighting violations.
