CTV GLOBEMEDIA/CHUM RADIO's OTTAWA cluster has made several changes and job cuts, reports the OTTAWA CITIZEN, including the departure of Talk CFRA-A and Sports CFGO-A (THE TEAM 1200) PD DAVE MITCHELL, CFRA evening host RON CORBETT, AC CJMJ (MAJIC 100) weekender DREW CORLEY, and more. CFRA's entire SUNDAY lineup and THE TEAM's "SUNDAY BEST" show were also cancelled in the shakeup.
VP/GM RICHARD GRAY told the CITIZEN that the moves were made because "You have to adapt in order to grow and to thrive. ASTRAL and TORRES RADIO are both licensed to launch new stations in here in early 2010. While both are FM music stations and have little to do with competing directly with CFRA, they will very much be aiming to aggressively draw listeners and advertisers away from the CHUM RADIO OTTAWA group of stations that includes MAJIC 100, BOB FM, CFRA and THE TEAM."
