KVLY-TV/FARGO reports local gay rights and HIV-victim support organizations are angry at comments made by JIM INGSTAD Country KBVB (BOB 95)/FARGO OM/morning man JOHN AUSTIN, after seeing ADAM LAMBERT's performance on THE AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS.
AUSTIN said the performance was "gay" and should have been called "the HIV awards."
JOSH BOSCHEE of PRIDE COLLECTIVE told KVLY, "We want some accountability, not just for negative comments about homosexuals, but especially for people living with HIV AIDS. We're getting the impression that RADIO FARGO-MOORHEAD isn't taking this seriously, and it's not a joke."
Contacted by ALL ACCESS, AUSTIN was apologetic, saying "I made an apology to those who were offended on air this morning -- and the station has pledged to help publicize AIDS awareness, education and fundraising efforts."
