After two years at crosstown PEAK BROADCASTING Talk KIDO-A, BOISE STATE football and men's basketball is returning to its longtime home at CITADEL Talk KBOI-A/BOISE for the 2010 season, with an additional simulcast for football on sister KKGL (96.9 FM THE EAGLE). The stations will also carry coaches' shows, specials, and pre- and post-game shows. CITADEL made the deal with LEARFIELD SPORTS' BRONCO SPORTS PROPERTIES, which intends to keep BOB BEHLER as the play-by-play voice of the BRONCOS. KBOI carried BRONCOS sports from 1973 through 2007.
"On the heels of what we consider to be yet another successful year for BRONCO Athletics, we’re extremely grateful to PEAK BROADCASTING for their commitment and dedication to bringing BRONCO game action over the airwaves to fans, while at the same time, we appreciate the opportunity to renew our partnership with CITADEL and expect outstanding coverage and programming to follow," said BSU Athletic Director GENE BLEYMAIER.
"We’re happy KBOI/KKGL will serve as the new AM-FM flagship for the BRONCOS and know the fans will embrace the added programming and extended coverage," said BRONCO SPORTS PROPERTIES GM DAN HAWLEY. "Not only are we pleased to put the BRONCO broadcasts back on a 50,000-watt AM station, but we now bring FM coverage into the mix for fans all across IDAHO and into WASHINGTON, as well as NEVADA, and discussions regarding our women’s basketball coverage are still under way as we’re currently determining those details."CITADEL GM DON MORIN said, "There’s no question we’re glad to be carrying the BRONCOS again, and we’re confident we will continue to build on the legacy we established years ago, but at a more exceptional level all around. This will be an excellent partnership, we’re certain of it."
