Veteran radio talent and programmer JIM RAPOSA has produced two one-hour specials for free use by noncommercial radio stations in the U.S. and CANADA for the holiday season. "THE FRANK AND FRIENDS CHRISTMAS SPECIAL" and "A CROSBY CHRISTMAS" are available through the PUBLIC RADIO EXCHANGE (PRX).
The "FRANK AND FRIENDS CHRISTMAS SPECIAL" is derived from RAPOSA's syndicated FRANK SINATRA show "FRANK AND FRIENDS," with CHRISTMAS songs performed by SINATRA and other stars like SAMMY DAVIS JR., DEAN MARTIN, and ANDY WILLIAMS. The show alos includes interview clips with WILLIAMS, QUINCY JONES, DEANA MARTIN, and CHRISTOPHER RIDDLE, among others. "The CHRISTMAS Special has always been a much anticipated event with affiliates and especially listeners. It's wonderful to make a special one hour version available and produced exclusively for public radio and distributed via PRX.ORG," said RAPOSA.
"A CROSBY CHRISTMAS" includes BING CROSBY singing solo and with duet partners like SINATRA, DAVID BOWIE, THE ANDREWS SISTERS, ELLA FITZGERALD, and PEGGY LEE. "The concept here was to gather studio recordings, plus radio and TV broadcast recordings and create the same sense of wonderment and charm that was always found in a BING CROSBY Christmas special," said RAPOSA.
