Syndicated talk host DOUG STEPHAN says he’s optimistic about radio’s health after originating his show from five heartland radio stations on a 3,600 mile cross country road trip. 

"I love visiting the local stations and seeing the inventive ways they've devised to cope with tough economic times," said STEPHAN. "As an example, they understand how to creatively package radio for local advertisers. Several of them made thousands of dollars by selling sponsorship packages to my broadcasts from their cities."

While in town, STEPHAN spent time visiting with stations' management and sales staffs, recording spots, going on sales calls and offering tips on making value-added revenue from syndicated programming.
