MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG, Mayor of the city of NEW YORK and founder of BLOOMBERG LP and BLOOMBERG NEWS, will be honored by the BROADCASTERS FOUNDATION OF AMERICA with the 2010 Golden Mike Award at a black-tie event to be held at the PLAZA HOTEL in NEW YORK on MARCH 8th.
The Golden Mike Award is bestowed annually to individuals who make an outstanding contribution to the radio and television industries and to the community at large.
In making the announcement, Foundation Chair PHILIP J. LOMBARDO noted, "Mayor BLOOMBERG had a reputation for philanthropy and civic involvement before he was elected to public service. Along with his business acumen and the impact he has had on broadcasting with BLOOMBERG NEWS, make him an ideal recipient of the Golden Mike Award. We are grateful to the Mayor for accepting this award and for taking time from his schedule to join us on MARCH 8th."
